The Turn a Page. Touch a Mind.® program emphasizes the critical role of reading to children and highlights the powerful influence healthcare providers have in encouraging families to establish consistent daily reading habits at home.

This program supplies age-appropriate books for distribution to your patients and families to encourage sharing stories in the first five years of life.

Why TAP-TAM

Plant seeds with routine reading.

Encouraging daily reading can foster a love for books, supporting cognitive development and strengthening the parent-child bond.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends early literacy promotion be a part of health care for every child. Research consistently indicates routine reading with children 0-5 strengthens family bonds and helps improve language and social-emotional development providing the groundwork for school readiness.

Your influence as a trusted source of guidance can make a significant impact on children and families.

Well-child visits provide valuable opportunities to strengthen a child’s home literacy practices. By offering early literacy education, practical reading strategies, and a developmentally appropriate book, caregivers are empowered to create a literacy-rich environment that deepens the parent-child bond and equips children with essential tools for language acquisition.

Dr. Seuss Week

Celebrate Dr. Seuss and literacy with TAP-TAM!

Each March, Turn a Page. Touch a Mind.® (TAP-TAM) sites celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday by promoting child literacy.

In addition to providing Dr. Seuss books, TAP-TAM sites receive extra goodies—Dr. Seuss-themed pencils, erasers, crayons, notebooks, wristbands, and stickers—to distribute during well-child visits. This celebration honors the beloved author while encouraging a love of reading among children.

Your support helps cover the books, materials, evaluations, and operational expenses for the TAP-TAM program.
