Advocacy Opportunity
FrameWorks Series – Childhood Immunization
Pediatrician advocacy on childhood immunization is vital: as a profession, we are a trusted voice in a moment when public confidence in vaccines is being eroded.
Advocacy Opportunity with KAAP and the FrameWorks Institute
Pediatrician advocacy on childhood immunization is vital: as a profession, we are a trusted voice in a moment when public confidence in vaccines is being eroded. One of the most effective ways to amplify our advocacy voices is by writing for the public in op/eds, letters to the editor, guest columns, and other forms of brief media commentary. That’s why Kansas AAP is thrilled to partner with the FrameWorks Institute to offer a crash course in Framing Immunization Commentaries. Participants will learn the logistics and hidden expectations of placing media commentaries; a fail-proof formula for organizing commentaries; and arguments and metaphors that, according to research, move hearts and minds on immunization policy.
Sessions build on each other, so joining involves a commitment to attending all three sessions and completing a (very!) short individual exercise between meetings. FrameWorks is available to review and comment on participant drafts after the seminar concludes.
This virtual seminar will be held on these dates and times: April 8, 12:15-1pm; April 15, 12:15-1pm; and April 22, 12:15-1pm.
If you’re interested and can commit to all three sessions, please email Michelle Horst, michelle.horst@kansasaap.org, indicating your interest. No previous experience is required, but if you have published op/eds in the past, please indicate that in your email and send a link if possible.
Please note that space is limited. If we have more interest than capacity, we’ll explore hosting this seminar again in the future.
